Taiwan's Silicon Reclaim Wafer Market Revenue Surpassed Japan's in 2013: SEMI
February 20, 2014

According to SEMI's (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) latest report, the worldwide silicon reclaim wafer market totaled US$460 million in 2013, and is projected to reach US$493 million in 2014. Both revenues and number of reclaim wafers grew 14% year on year in 2013, with 12-inch wafers taking up 72% of the market by revenue, and 48% by number. Thanks to Taiwan's foundries and superiority in 12-inch processing, the country secured 34% of the global reclaim wafer market revenue in 2013, leaving Japan behind with a 27% share of revenue. As TSMC is planning to accelerate 20-nm and 16-nm process capacity expansion, it is said to increase the share of Taiwan-made reclaim wafers, from 50% to 70% in this year.
